TEAL Product Suite
Background
Today CIOs are realising that their organisations have a responsibility to guarantee that all emails are permanently stored and capable of being retrieved over the long term. However, the challenge they face is that this is currently not possible, or at best highly costly and impractical to achieve, using their existing email infrastructure.
CoolRock's TEAL (Transparent Email Archiving Library) product suite provides a cost effective and open-standards based approach to email storage compliance, whilst simultaneously providing capabilities for better enterprise email information management through powerful email search, retrieval and collaboration mechanisms.
TEAL's transparent approach to capturing organisational email is designed to make it easy to setup, install and configure with different email systems, from Microsoft Exchange to Unix Sendmail servers. Furthermore, TEAL's open-standards based approach allows it to easily leverage existing infrastructure thereby reducing deployment and infrastructure costs. TEAL can be deployed to a standalone server or servers, as a virtual appliance or as a managed service. Storage can be either local, a SAN, or via a cloud based storage service.
The TEAL solution uses SOA (Service Orientated Architecture) techniques to provide an open-standard and secure service based interface into the Email Library. This allows for multitudes of different email clients and other systems to make use of TEAL's rich vault of corporate email information.
Regardless of the potential applications organisations have in mind for email information, be it simple compliance with governance legislation or to utilise it as a valuable information tool, the important first step is ensuring that every single email is securely captured and recorded.

TEAL Virtual Edition
TEAL Virtual Edition adds support for creation of virtual archives split by email domains. It is especially suitable for hosted email providers as a sales channel to provide TEAL as a cloud product offering. Pluggable support for cloud storage infrastructure allows scaling to millions of emails per day while keeping customers' "virtual archives" separated from each other.

TEAL's Key Benefits
-
Transparent, Guaranteed Email Capture
TEAL's Interceptor plug-ins for popular email servers allows for guaranteed capture of emails flowing in and out of a network during quiet and peak traffic periods.
-
Historical Email Import
TEAL allows existing email stores to be imported into the archive, ensuring that historical email data is captured not just real-time intercepted email traffic.
-
Efficient Storage
TEAL provides storage efficiencies such as duplicate email & attachment detection, single instance storage of emails and attachments, storage compression and hierarchical storage to minimise the footprint of your email archive.
-
Scalability and Cloud Compatible Storage
TEAL has been designed from the ground up as a large-scale email content management system, rather than a document management system with an email add-on. As a result it can scale to store billions of emails across a single logical archive, with storage spread across any number of physical locations. If required, the file based driver can be replaced by a driver for a cloud based storage system.
-
Email Perspectives
TEAL's unique Email Perspectives technology allows for reusable and dynamic definitions of a particular cross-section of the archive, defined by a set of relationship requirement criteria. Perspectives can be saved and reused to provide a powerful email management tool.
-
Security
TEAL provides a highly customisable security model, with integration into company directories (LDAP, Active Directory) to provide single-sign on and group/divisional level management of archive access permissions.
-
Auditing
all accesses to the archive are subject to TEAL's auditing module that tracks all user email searching and retrieval.
-
Collaboration
Lock user views of the archive down to their individual email accounts or use TEAL's Collaboration Manager to define shared views of the archive that transcend across multiple email accounts. These views can be based on any query criteria to define powerful collaborative cross-sections of the archive that different users and groups can access.
-
Encryption
TEAL allows for email content stored in the archive to be encrypted to protect the archive's contents even from system administrators managing the installation. TEAL also fully supports importing encrypted email, using a locally managed key-store to decrypt imported emails.
-
Search Everything
Emails in TEAL can be searched across a wide variety of criteria, including all header information and full-text word searching of email content including popular attachment formats such as Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF documents. Recursively will index the contents of zipped attachments.
-
Bundling
Emails content needs to be transported outside of the archive. TEAL's Bundling feature allows for email search results to be exported into a portable, self-executable bundle for downloading and storage external to the TEAL installation. Bundles can be encrypted, requiring a user-supplied password to unlock.
-
Interoperable
TEAL is deployable on a range of operating systems and interoperates with major enterprise IT infrastructure.
